This revision (effective October 21, 2026) adds AI interrogation consent, age checks in places where the law requires them, information about ending the service, protection for content you’ve already bought, and your consumer rights where you live. Until then, the Korean version revised on September 15, 2026 applies.
01About these terms
These terms set out the conditions for using Pixel Detective: Case Files, operated by OLA Project (Representative Eunbi Ko), and the rights and responsibilities of the operator and users. When you install the app, create an account, or use the service, these terms and the Privacy Policy apply.
The service is available on iOS and Android phones. The number of cases and features may change with app updates.
02Who can use the service
The service is for people aged 14 and older. You may not use another person’s account or sign-in details without permission.
In places where the law requires it (such as Texas in the United States), we check the minimum age using the age range the app store provides, and we restrict use if you’re found to be under the minimum age.
The app contains non-graphic depictions of murder, death, smuggling, and addiction, along with AI conversations. Please check the store’s age rating and content information before using it.
03Accounts, sign-in, and linking
You can sign in as a guest or with Google or Apple.
- A guest account is also created as a unique account on our servers, and your case records and question counts are saved.
- If you link to a social account that has no Pixel Detective records yet, you keep using your existing guest records.
- If the social account already has other records, it won’t be linked and you’ll see a notice; the records you’re using stay as they are. We don’t offer a way to automatically merge records from different accounts or move them from one to the other.
- If you delete the app or reset your device before linking a social account, you may not be able to get back into your guest account.
You’re responsible for keeping your device and sign-in method secure, and you should tell us if you think someone else is using your account.
04The game and access to cases
You investigate scenes, collect clues and belongings, question suspects, and submit your deduction. Whether a case is solved, its grade, XP, and access to the next case are decided based on our server records.
The conditions for unlocking the next case are shown in the app. A free case unlocks right after you solve the previous free case and our servers confirm it. Paid cases can be played once you buy them, whether or not you’ve solved earlier cases. You can revisit completed cases in your case records, and reinvestigation follows “Paid products and payments.”
If we find a content error or safety problem, we may temporarily suspend access to a specific case, and we’ll keep progress you’ve already made as far as possible.
05XP and in-game records
XP and detective ranks are virtual records of your game progress. They have no cash value and can’t be transferred or sold to other users.
XP is awarded in amounts set by our servers when you solve a case, based on your grade, and when you collect all the clues and belongings in a case. XP already awarded for a case isn’t awarded again. If you get a higher grade, you receive only the difference, and if your grade goes down, we don’t take back XP you’ve already received.
We may correct records created by improper requests or system errors after checking them. We don’t accept XP values that the app sends on its own.
06Paid products and payments
The app sells the following paid products. All of them are one-time, non-consumable unlocks with no subscription, auto-renewal, or recurring payment. While your purchase remains valid and the service is running, they have no expiry date (an internet connection is required). However, you can no longer use them if access is revoked because of a refund or payment cancellation, or if your account is deleted.
- Reinvestigation pass (per free case): Unlocks reinvestigation for that case and raises its AI interrogation limit from 3 to 6 questions per suspect (applied once, at your first purchase). Reinvestigating again after purchase doesn’t add or reset AI questions. You can buy a reinvestigation pass from the case record screen only after completing that case.
- Paid case access (per case marked as paid): Lets you play that case. It includes 6 AI questions per suspect and unlimited reinvestigation, so you don’t need a separate reinvestigation pass.
The following apply to purchases and use:
- Only members with a linked Google or Apple account can buy paid products. Guests need to link an account before buying. Purchases belong to your Pixel Detective app account and apply on both iOS and Android when you sign in with the same app account. Apple Family Sharing isn’t supported.
- Prices are the local prices shown by the App Store or Google Play at the time of purchase.
- Payments are handled by each store’s in-app purchase system, and we don’t receive card numbers or other payment details.
- If you reinstall the app or change devices, your purchases stay with you when you sign in with the same Pixel Detective app account, and you can check your store purchases again with [Restore Purchases] in the app. If you deleted your account and later created a new app account with Google or Apple sign-in, you can link purchases the store confirms are still valid to the new account by running [Restore Purchases] on a device set up with the same App Store or Google Play account you used to buy. Refunded or cancelled purchases can’t be restored, and game progress from before you deleted your account isn’t restored.
The following apply to cancellations and refunds:
- Payment cancellations and refunds follow the procedures of the store where you bought (App Store or Google Play) and the applicable laws. For users in Korea, this includes the Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce.
- A minor’s purchase made without a legal guardian’s consent may be cancelled by the minor or the guardian as provided by applicable law. Under Korean law, cancellation may be limited if the purchase was within money the guardian allowed the minor to spend (such as an allowance), or if the minor tricked others into believing they were an adult or had the guardian’s consent.
- Paid products are digital content delivered as soon as you buy them. Depending on where you live, change-of-mind cancellations may not be available once delivery has started. For users in Korea, this follows Article 17 of the Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce. We also show this on the purchase screen before payment.
- When a refund is confirmed, access to that product is revoked. If a reinvestigation pass is refunded, the AI interrogation limit goes back to the default (3), and questions you’ve already used still count. A reinvestigation round that started properly before the refund can be finished, but new reinvestigations are restricted after that. If paid case access is refunded, you can no longer play that case; if the payment is restored or you buy it again, you can continue from your existing progress.
- Whether digital content that has already been delivered can be refunded depends on each store’s policy and the applicable laws.
These terms don’t reduce or remove any rights the laws of the country where you live give you as a consumer. If something is wrong with a purchase, please email us. If you downloaded the app from the App Store or Google Play, that store’s terms also apply.
There are no ads in the app right now. If we ever add ads, we’ll let you know in the app or on this site first.
07AI interrogation
AI interrogation creates answers from fictional suspects based on your questions. The number of questions one account can send to each suspect in a case is shown in the app. By default it’s 3 successful questions per suspect, and 6 for free cases with a reinvestigation pass and for paid cases. We may change these limits and conditions when needed to run the service, and we’ll let you know in the app if we do.
Because your questions are sent to an outside AI (Anthropic) to create answers, we ask for your consent in the app before you send your first question. If you don’t agree, you can still use every feature except AI interrogation.
Answers are generated automatically, so they may be inaccurate, inconsistent with the story, or unpleasant. AI answers aren’t advice you can rely on for real-life decisions, including legal, medical, or financial ones. Please report problematic answers with the report button on the speech bubble. We review reported answers and, if needed, adjust the interrogation settings or restrict the feature.
Successful questions and answers are saved until you delete your account so you can continue the conversation and so we can check quality and safety. Don’t include personal information, passwords, verification codes, or sensitive content in your questions.
08What you may not do
You must not:
- Use someone else’s account, email, or sign-in details
- Get around the security or access limits of the app, servers, or APIs
- Tamper with XP, question counts, lock status, or case results
- Disrupt the service by sending excessive requests with automated tools
- Abuse payment or refund processes, or bypass purchase verification to access paid content
- Ask the AI for its system prompt or unreleased answers
- Enter content that is illegal, discriminatory, threatening, or sexually exploitative, or that violates others’ rights
- Copy, distribute, or sell the app’s images, music, text, characters, or code without permission
If we find a violation, we may limit requests, correct records, suspend use, or delete the account, depending on how serious it is. Unless it’s urgent, we’ll tell you why and how to object.
09Content and intellectual property
The rights to the app’s case design, text, characters, screens, code, images, music, and sound effects belong to the operator or the rightful owners. Open-source components follow their own licenses, listed in Licenses.
You keep the rights to the questions you type. You agree that we may store and process your questions as needed for the set retention period to provide the service, improve quality, review safety, and handle reports. We won’t sell your questions for other purposes or take your rights to them.
10Changes, interruptions, and ending the service
We may update the service to add cases, fix bugs, improve security, or comply with policies. We’ll tell you in advance in the app or on this site if important features or conditions change.
The service may be temporarily unavailable because of maintenance, network or outside API outages, natural disasters, or urgent security responses.
When we change these terms, we’ll post the changes and their effective date in the app or on this site at least 7 days in advance, or at least 30 days in advance for changes that are unfavorable to you. If you keep using the service after the effective date, you’re considered to have agreed to the changes. If you don’t agree, you can stop using the service and delete your account.
Changes to these terms won’t reduce what you can do with paid content you’ve already bought. If the law requires such a reduction, we’ll take the steps the law requires.
If we decide to end the service, we’ll announce the end date and reason in the app and on this site at least 30 days in advance. After the service ends, you won’t be able to use it, including content you bought. Refunds or compensation for purchased content follow the applicable laws and each store’s policies.
11Signing out and deleting your account
Signing out, or returning to the start screen as a guest, doesn’t delete your account or your records on our servers. To delete your account completely, use Delete Data or Delete Account in the app.
Deleting your account can’t be undone, and your profile, game progress, XP, saved AI conversations, and related data are deleted. For details, see Delete Your Account and Data.
12Our responsibility
The service is a fictional mystery game, and any resemblance to real people, organizations, or events is coincidental. We don’t guarantee that the service will always work without interruption or that AI answers will always be accurate.
Unless we act intentionally or with gross negligence, we aren’t responsible for losses caused by problems with your device or network, use that breaks these terms, outages of outside sign-in providers, or accounts you deleted yourself. We don’t limit our liability beyond what the applicable laws allow.
This section doesn’t limit the rights that consumer protection laws give you (for example, a remedy when something you bought isn’t provided properly) or our responsibility under those laws.
13Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. If a dispute arises, we’ll first try to resolve it in good faith, and if that doesn’t work, you can use the courts or dispute resolution procedures provided by the applicable laws. However, this doesn’t affect the protection of mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live or your right to use the courts there.
If you live outside Korea, see Additional terms for users outside Korea below. Apart from that section, the Korean and English versions of these terms have the same content.
- Operator: OLA Project (Representative Eunbi Ko)
- Email: pixeldetective.app@gmail.com
14Additional terms for users outside Korea
All users outside Korea
- If you’re under the age of majority where you live, use the app and make purchases only with your parent’s or guardian’s permission.

Australia
- Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other laws that can’t be excluded.

If a purchase is faulty, not as described, or doesn’t work properly, you may be entitled to a remedy under the Australian Consumer Law. - Korean law governs these terms, but as a consumer in Australia you keep the protection of mandatory Australian law, including the Australian Consumer Law, and you can bring a claim in Australian courts.
- You can report harmful AI answers with the in-app report button, and we review the reports we receive. You can also report seriously harmful online content to the eSafety Commissioner at esafety.gov.au.
United States

- Where the law of your state doesn’t allow a limit of liability, that limit doesn’t apply to you.
