Deletion can’t be undone. If you just want a break, signing out is enough, and signing out doesn’t delete your data on our servers.
01Before you delete
Once your data or account is deleted, your account and case records can’t be recovered. Signing out, closing the app, or returning to the start screen as a guest doesn’t delete your account.
What’s deleted: your sign-in account, profile, nickname, detective ID, case progress, collected clues and belongings, grades, XP, inventory, purchase access attached to your account, saved AI questions and answers, AI interrogation consent records, question counts, report records, and operations records
Purchase and refund transaction records aren’t included in the list above. As required by Korea’s Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, we keep records of contracts and order cancellations, and of payments and delivery of goods, separately for 5 years and then delete them. We use these records only to meet our legal obligations and to check payments and disputes.
After deleting, you can create a new guest account or a new app account with Google or Apple sign-in, but your previous account’s case records, XP, and AI conversations won’t come back.
Your purchase history itself stays with your Apple or Google store account. After a new app account is created with Google or Apple sign-in, run [Restore Purchases] in the Profile tab on a device set up with the same App Store or Google Play account you used to buy, and access to non-consumable products the store confirms are still valid can be linked to the new account again. Refunded or cancelled purchases aren’t restored, and case records, XP, and AI conversations deleted with your old account can’t be restored.
02Deleting a guest account
If you can open the app with your guest account, this is the fastest way.
- Open the Profile tab at the bottom of the app.
- Go to My Info.
- Tap Delete Data.
- Check what will be deleted.
- When you confirm, your server account and data are deleted and you return to the sign-in screen.
If the deletion request fails, the app won’t show it as successful, and your account and data stay as they are.
04Requesting deletion if you can't sign in
If you can’t use the app or sign in to your account, email pixeldetective.app@gmail.com with the subject “Account deletion request.”
To find your account and make sure no one else’s account is deleted, we’ll check:
- Sign-in type: guest, Google, or Apple
- Your detective ID or nickname, if you know it
- For social accounts, the email shared with the service
- Roughly when you signed up and the last case you played
- Platform: iOS or Android
Don’t send passwords, verification codes, or copies of ID documents. If we can’t identify your account from this information, we may ask for the minimum additional confirmation needed.
05How we confirm your identity and handle requests
If you delete your account yourself while signed in, that sign-in session confirms it’s you. For email requests, we compare the minimum information only the account owner is likely to know, such as your social sign-in email, detective ID, or usage history.
Once your identity is confirmed, we delete your data without delay and email you the result. If it’s hard to identify the account, or if there’s a security investigation, a dispute, or a legal obligation to keep records, it may take longer, and we’ll tell you why and when to expect it.
06What's deleted
| Data | What happens |
|---|---|
| Sign-in account and app sign-in state | We delete the account and clear the app’s sign-in state on this device. Short-lived access tokens already issued stop working when they expire under our authentication settings. |
| Profile · XP · Inventory | We delete records linked to your account ID. |
| Case progress and results | We delete case progress, clues, belongings, grades, and lock records. |
| AI interrogation · Consent · Usage · Reports | We delete saved questions and answers, AI interrogation consent records, usage records (which contain no question or answer text), and copies of reports you submitted. |
| Social sign-in connection | We delete the Google and Apple connection information stored by the service, and for Apple we also revoke authorization where possible. You can remove the app connection left in your Google account from the third-party apps list in your Google Account settings. |
| Purchase access and transaction records | Purchase access attached to your account is deleted. Purchase and refund transaction records are kept separately for 5 years as required by law and then deleted, and are used only to meet legal obligations and check payments and disputes. |
| Device settings | Sound, music, haptics, and language settings are device settings not linked to your account, so they stay on your device. They’re removed when you delete the app. |
| Support emails | Kept separately from the account database and deleted once your request has been handled. If there’s a dispute or a legal obligation to keep them, we may keep them only as long as needed, with limited access. |
If information we’ve deleted from our live systems remains in encrypted backups, it’s deleted on the backup rotation schedule. We don’t use backups to bring user accounts back.
07After deletion
Once deletion is complete, the deleted account data can’t be recovered or viewed, and that user’s case records and AI conversations aren’t shown even on the same device. Short-lived access tokens already issued stop working when they expire under our authentication settings. Deletion can’t be cancelled, so please check the account and what will be deleted on the final confirmation screen.
03Deleting a Google or Apple account
If you can sign in with your social account, follow these steps.
Deleting your account deletes the server account and the data linked to it. For Apple accounts, we also revoke the authorization issued to the service where possible. Even if the token has expired and can’t be revoked automatically, your account and data are still deleted, and the app shows you how to remove Pixel Detective’s access yourself in your Apple ID settings. Your Google or Apple account itself isn’t deleted.
